The Innovation Lab
Designed to launch movements led by visionary next-generation leaders, our expert team leverages culture-changing ideas by providing essential resources, building supportive teams, and positioning leaders to gain momentum and scale.
Today, there are three movements in our lab.
Why Innovation Lab?
At Voices, we have one goal: make motherhood thinkable.
The innovation lab model allows us to explore transformative ideas and experiment boldly to discover longterm strategies to empower women and create a culture of Life. Each movement in the Voices Innovation Lab must meet three criteria to ensure we are making progress toward achieving our vision. We invest in ideas that…
Target a Root Cause
Does it target areas in culture where women feel like abortion is their only choice?
Accomplish a Double-Win
Does it promote the mutual thriving of both mother and baby?
Navigate a Blue Ocean
Does it deliver unique value without competing in overcrowded spaces?
Areas of Focus for the Lab
We believe that the only way to truly create a culture of Life is by launching movements that transform communities and institutions from the inside out. Today, we’ve identified four areas of focus for the Lab.
The Workplace
Only 17% of working women in America have access to paid maternity leave, leaving many women to face an impossible choice between their livelihood and their child. Many others face pregnancy discrimination as work environments perceive motherhood to be a career-limiting pursuit. We’re interested in ideas that showcase how motherhood and career can coexist.
Medical Industry
Today, 67% of pregnancies prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome end in termination. As technology for prenatal diagnosis advances, few clinicians are ever trained how to wield the tool properly. In the absence of proper training and relationship with the disability community, prenatal testing has essentially become little more than a tool used to encourage pregnancy termination. We’re interested in ideas that change this.
Online
After learning about their pregnancy, many women make a decision within just 24 hours. The number of women consulting online sources for advice—oftentimes exclusively—before making a pregnancy decision is quickly growing. And in a world where online abortion pill companies are mailing pills direct-to-door, we’re interested in ideas that making the voice of Life more accessible than the voice of death on the internet.
Faith Communities
70% of women who have abortions self-identify as Christian, with 43% attending church at least once a month at the time of their abortion. In a post-Roe world, the voice of clear and courageous churches engaging the abortion discussion is more critical than ever. We’re interested in ideas that equip churches to support women facing unexpected pregnancy and offer healing to those who have experienced abortion.
